Medical malpractice is the act of improper, unskilled, or negligent treatment of a patient by a physician, dentist, nurse, pharmacist, or other health care professional, resulting in undue injury to a patient.

In certain circumstances, for example against a municipal hospital, the time limitations are even stricter: 90 days for a notice of claim from the last date of treatment and 1 year and 90 days from the last date of treatment for the malpractice alleged.
